Spring & September Salmon Showdowns

Catch the largest salmon before the first day of summer, or anytime in September, and you could win a return trip to Langara. All guests are eligible and there’s no extra cost—just come on up, have a great time, and you might be fishing for free next season.

As proof of the great fishing we enjoy all season long, the two winning fish in 2011 were a matching pair of 48 pound Chinook salmon, caught 3 months apart in June and September! So come experience first-hand why we are blessed with the longest and most productive fishing season on the West Coast.

$175,000 Haida Gwaii Tournament

Our most popular event of the season features big money prizes, and an opportunity to assist us in our salmon conservation efforts.

The Haida Gwaii Tournament features a unique ‘tag and release’ format – salmon netted by contestants are passed off to officials on the water and quickly measured, tagged and released.

With a top prize of $85,000 and a limit of only 60 rods, the Haida Gwaii offers great fishing for great prizes at great odds. And each year several of our tags are recovered, in rivers ranging from the Skeena in Northern B.C. to the Columbia in the Pacific Northwest, providing valuable data for salmon research.

Rick Hansen Fishing Challenge

Join Canada's Man in Motion at Langara Fishing Lodge for the Rick Hansen Fishing Challenge. Enjoy four days of fantastic tournament fishing with business and community leaders from across North America, and help in Rick's goal of building a healthier and more inclusive world.

Twenty-five years ago, Rick Hansen set out on his Man in Motion World Tour, with a goal of making the world more accessible and finding a cure for spinal cord injury (SCI). Today, the Rick Hansen Foundation supports research for treatment, care and cure for SCI, advancing accessibility, and improving medical treatment for those with spinal cord and related injuries.

Lady Anglers Fishing Tournament

With complimentary guiding and discounts for husbands and boyfriends, this event is the perfect introduction to the wonders of Langara for both serious and aspiring female anglers.

Over $10,000 in cash and prizes will be awarded, including unique Haida jewellery and a return trip to next year’s event for the overall winner.

Join us for a relaxing four-day weekend of great fishing, friendship, food and service, amidst the spectacular scenery and wildlife of Langara Island.

Family Fishing Tournament

The Family Fishing Tournament is an event for any and all members of the family. Fathers and sons, mothers and daughters, brothers and sisters, uncles and nephews…any pairing or group of family members qualifies for this event at no additional cost.

Taking place in late August, the Family Fishing Tournament features great fishing for chinook and coho salmon, spectacular whale watching and lots of terrific prizes, including a return trip for 2 for the winning team!
