As with all travel destinations, Langara Fishing Lodge’s 2020 season was severely impacted by the Covid pandemic.
The lodge was able to open for a short period when travel restrictions were eased in British Columbia, and a small number of guests were able to enjoy some great fishing at Langara Island.
Although it was disappointing that many of our guests could not join us last season, this limited opening gave us the opportunity to develop and put into practice a Covid Safety Plan, and have it approved by our provincial health authority.
Pre-trip health screening, temperature readings at check-in, revised dining schedules and seating, single-room accommodations (as needed), social distancing, and enhanced cleaning protocols, were all implemented last season.
While we all hope this summer sees a return to normal for travellers coming to British Columbia, we are fully prepared to open with all necessary safety protocols in place.
Langara has partnered with 3sixty5 Medical to ensure our guests enjoy a safe and enjoyable travel experience. 3sixty5 Medical is a B.C.-based company that specializes in providing medical guidance and services in remote environments, and has been providing on-site medical support at Langara Island since 2017.
Since we first opened Langara Fishing Lodge in 1985, the safety of our employees and guests has always been our first priority, and we are bringing that same commitment to the challenges presented by this unique pandemic.
As the start of our 2021 season approaches, and the B.C. Health Officer’s safety protocols are updated, we will be informing our guests of what to expect when they arrive at the lodge.
