June at Langara Island
Langara Island plays host to a countless number of bird species throughout the year.
In the spring, Bald Eagles, Peregrine Falcons, Tufted Puffins, Auklets, Murrelets, Oystercatchers, Murres, Storm-petrels and Pigeon Guillemots will all arrive here to breed and nest in our ancient forests and along our rugged coastlines.
Come June, their young can be seen throughout our skies and waters, taking their first flights and learning to feed on needlefish and invertebrates.
Humpback whales and pods of killer whales are also seen with increasing frequency in June, and Pacific white-sided dolphins and Dahl’s porpoises will begin to make occasional appearances.
